Why Billboard Advertising Works
For decades, billboards have been permanent fixtures on America’s highways, and for good reason: They work! What is it about billboards that makes them effective for building brand awareness and increasing revenue? The answer to this is simple:

1. Your Billboard Message Cannot Be Ignored
Billboards are a form of “interruption marketing,” which means that they “interrupt” what your audience is doing at that moment to convey an important message. Unlike other mediums where people can tune out the message if they aren’t interested, billboards guarantee people will see your message. Billboard advertising is cost-effective and offers excellent ROI. Most billboards cost less than a penny per thousand people that see your ad. Other mediums simply cannot compare to this rate.

2. You Have a High Level of Flexibility With Billboard Advertising
Because we have a large inventory of locations in Oklahoma, you have many options in choosing where and to which demographic you want to reach. We also have access to data about these locations and their markets to assist you in your decision-making process of which location best fits your marketing strategy.

3. Billboards Are Permanent, Impactful Fixtures
Every day as people commute to and from work, walk their dogs, and ride their bikes, billboard messages stand out as part of the environment. Subconsciously, through frequency of visibility, billboards are creating more brand awareness and influencing buying decisions. The imagery and simplistic message used in combination with the static, highly-visible, permanent nature of billboards make them very effective at communicating your message.

4. Quick Rise in Sales
Because billboards are so effective at increasing brand awareness, it is not surprising that many advertisers see a very quick rise in sales and phone calls as a result of their efforts.
Billboards have their place in any advertising campaign because they reach out to your market in different ways. As a time-tested medium, they have served businesses and advertisers well for decades and will continue to do so in the years to come.

5 Tips to Successful Billboard Advertising
A common mistake many new advertisers make is trying to get lots of information squeezed onto a billboard while targeting as many people as possible. It may seem counterintuitive, but this isn’t the best way to billboard advertise. So, what are some practical pieces of information you can put to use when deciding how to structure your billboard campaign?
1. Keep Your Message Short and Sweet
Because most audiences will be driving by the billboard location your message brief and simple. Your message should contain no more than 7 words and make a powerful statement that provokes emotion and thought in the viewer. Your message is guaranteed to be seen, so make it short and make it count.
2. Show, but Don’t Tell
This tip goes hand-in-hand with the first one, but has a slight twist. When it comes to billboards, powerful imagery usually trumps words. If a viewer has the option to read your message or simply absorb it through creative imagery, option two will serve you and them better. In a 2014 study, it was found that visual content is processed 60,000 times faster than textual content. On the freeway, when people are racing by, having conversations with passengers, and talking on their phones, the time available to communicate your message decreases significantly, so make sure you’re showing your story, not talking about it.
3. Use Large Fonts
This is great for the sole purpose of helping people see your message quickly and clearly. It also helps the billboard to be visible from further away and from different sides of town. When driving down the road, drivers usually don’t want to compromise their safety while struggling to read a billboard. Using fonts that are too small or difficult to read also has the potential to irritate your viewers, which sheds a negative light on your brand.
4. Laser Target Your Audience
This one may seem obvious, but is a common mistake to overlook this crucial bit of information and try to target everyone. When it comes to advertising, nothing is more frustrating for an audience than when they’re exposed to advertisements that are completely irrelevant to their personal interests. Think about your market demographics and make sure you position your billboards right in front of them the best you can. You’ll have better conversion rates and spend more time closing new business than spinning your wheels.
5. Laser Target Your Niche
Another common mistake among is wanting to market everything your company has to offer. The better approach would be to focus on a single product or service that you want to build an audience for and focus on that only. Once you’re successful with one area of your business, you can begin to build other areas out one at a time.
